Why aren't Americans giving president Obama time?

January 20, 2009 seemed like yesterday.

The nation and the entire world was in bliss of Barack Obama being sworn in as President of the United States. His job was to provide “change” from Washington politics and to lift America from a devastation recession.

Almost eight months later, Obama’s approval dropped below 60% for the first time. It dropped despite our nation’s economy finally showing signs of life. It dropped despite his guarantee our bringing American soldiers home from a five-year nightmare in Iraq and the Persian Gulf.

He also redid our nation’s health care. Apparently, his miracle work left many still unsatisfied. Why aren’t Americans giving President Obama time?

The answer is simple.

Obama had the misfortune of being America’s first biracial (black) president. This nation proved that it wasn’t ready for a leader “of the people”. Despite his efforts, our Commander-in-Chief continued to receive racist emails, death threats against he and his family and calls for his impeachment. Former Republican consultant, Tom Vanderlay even questioned Obama’s place of origin. The current “Dancing With the Star” cast member demanded to see Obama’s birth certificate. He claimed that our president was born in Kenya and not in Hawaii. He also claimed that Obama wasn’t an American citizen, thus making him ineligible as Commander-in-Chief.

Obama also had the misfortune of his programs being deemed “socialist”. Being a First World nation, America should’ve already had affordable health care for everyone. Our nation’s drug industries acted like the “mafia”. They used the incarcerated, the elderly and the homeless as “guinea pigs” to test experimental medicines and drugs. They used lobbyists to bully politicians to recommend their experimental medicines and drugs to the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). They muscled smaller businesses to stock their products on the shelves.

Obama wanted to free Americans from being slaves to the drug industry. Obama wanted Americans to be able to afford visits hospitals for check-ups and appointments. Nevertheless, the food and drug industry blamed Obama’s policies on their struggles. Obama stated that taxes needed to be raised short-term for his program to be successful.

Some Americans even blamed Obama for problems he didn’t start. The states of Louisiana and Mississippi remained like they were when Hurricane Katrina hit four years ago. Obama received criticism for not helping the residents, even though they had four years to rebuild from the disaster.

America’s ill treatment of Obama came ahead at the recent, Town Hall Meeting. One protestor held a sign calling for the murder of Obama, his First Lady, Michelle and their “two, stupid kids”. Another protestor, a gun advocate, brought an assault rifle to the proceedings.

Why aren’t Americans giving President Obama time?

Because our nation is still as racist as it was four decades ago.

Good post Marcus. But are you calling the US racist because you yourself are African -American?

There can some other reason for people's response for Obama. Maybe they are over expecting from their president as he promised them the whole new world...

Glenn,

I call the United States ”racist” because of the constant offensive emails and death threats our president gets.

I have criticism of President Obama of perhaps getting too much ”face time” on camera. Sometimes, he comments on issues like sports that have nothing to do with rebuilding our nation. But, his minor oversights aren’t deserving of being threatened 24/7.

"More importantly, in a free society every citizen gains a sense of himself as an individual, rather than developing a group or victim mentality. This leads to a sense of individual responsibility and personal pride, making skin color irrelevant. Rather than looking to government to correct our sins, we should understand that racism will endure until we stop thinking in terms of groups and begin thinking in terms of individual liberty."

I don't know about others but according to me, he's doing a good job and making us proud to elect him as the president. Good going Obama.
