Late yesterday, a Denver court sentenced Travis Henry to three years in federal prison for allegedly financing a drug trafficking operation that shipped cocaine from Colorado to Montana. This sentence effectively ended a once promising career for the former, Tennessee Volunteer.
Henry started playing professionally after being drafted by the Buffalo Bills in 2001. He rushed for 1000-plus yards in four seasons and emerged as one of the best running backs in NFL.
After Buffalo drafted Marshawn Lynch in 2007, Henry was picked up by Denver to be their #1 back. However, injuries and a positive, drug test shortened his time there. It was while in Denver when Henry met some associates and started his off-the field “business”.
Law enforcement soon uncovered a massive, drug trafficking operation in which cocaine was being shipped from Colorado to Montana. Arrested, drug dealers turned and later implicated Henry as the “money man” behind the financing.
Cops arrested Henry on multiple charges of distribution of narcotics, trafficking and other related felonies. He was later convicted and later sentenced.
Henry joined former Pittsburgh Steeler, Bam Morris as current, NFL running backs arrested for financially backing drug traffickers.
During their careers, former Dallas Cowboy, Nate Newton and Kansas City Chief, Tamarick Vanover were convicted on similar charges.
